Felmaris

fantasy map of Felmaris a troubled land

Carnstone, Eirren

Carnstone, formerly known as "Cairncathair," before the rise of the Church of the Five, is the decaying capital of Eirren and the ominous seat of the Sanguine Church. Once a vibrant city filled with culture and light, it now stands as a shadow of its former glory, a derelict expanse of crumbling architecture and plague-ravaged streets.

The Blood Plague, which has consumed most of Felmaris, festers here, thickening the air with despair and suspicion. The city’s spires, which once rose proudly, are draped in crimson banners marked with the sigil of the Sanguine Church—a corrupt institution that has twisted the original Trinity faith to maintain its iron grip on power.

Carnstone is caught between past splendor and present corruption, where hope is scarce, and every shadow might hide a danger or an unexpected ally. It serves as a grim reminder of what is at stake and a battleground where Sían and her allies must confront the Church’s brutal power—and perhaps, ignite a flame of rebellion.

The Pale City

The Pale City, a cloistered stronghold within the northeastern corner of Carnstone, stands as a bastion of supposed divine protection and order. Guarded by the imposing Pale Gates, it is said that no beast has ever crossed its threshold, and the Blood Plague never breached its flawless marble walls.

This untouched status lends credence to the Sanguine Church's claims of holiness, with the city's immaculate architecture and glittering spires of the Greater and Lesser Pale Cathedrals exuding an aura of sanctity. At its heart lies the Pale Palace, the opulent seat of the Blood Sovereign, alongside the residences and government buildings of the Scarlet Order.

Yet, beneath this facade of purity, dark whispers speak of blood rituals and forbidden magic that keep the city's sanctity intact—a sinister truth that belies its polished perfection.
